Making my Mark!

Sterling silver ring castellated design

It's been a momentous time at Sea Glass Central. I've just received my first hallmarked items back from the Assay Office in Edinburgh. I recently registered for a hallmark and now I can make larger pieces that by law must be hallmarked. Previously I only made jewellery below the legal weight, but I was finding that limiting. Now you can buy my larger pieces bearing my hallmark. The hallmark is made up of several symbols, One with my maker's mark, a heart with TC inside, one telling you where they were hallmarked, in my case Edinburgh, and one with the type of metal (Sterling silver/ fine silver/ gold etc). I was so excited to see my newly hallmarked pieces. The marks may be small (you'll definitely need specs to read a hallmark!), but it's a guarantee of the quality of the item. Exciting times!
