Grist to the Mill
It was such fun to make the beautiful Mill of Benholm my temporary workshop for North East Open Studios in September. NEOS is a fantastic event that sees hundreds of creatives across the area fling open their studio doors to visitors and share their art. As my workshop is tiny, and I mean tiny, I asked Mill of Benholm if I could use their pop up shop for the 9 day duration. Nick kindly knocked up a mini work bench and I was good to go. I was amazed at how many visitors I had, no doubt the lure of the delicious patisseries in the coffee shop were a factor. And speaking of which, it was wonderful to wander next door for an energy boosting pick me up when it was quiet. I managed to get quite a lot of making done in the lulls between visitors too. Just as well, Christmas is coming! But I wanted to say a huge thank you to all of the volunteers who keep the Mill open. It's a beautiful place to visit, with scenic paths leading down the hill to the historic mill with it's fascinating history. And I can't thank my visitors enough, those who took my jewellery to its forever home and those who just came to discover more about jewellery making and sea glass. So many good chats! Roll on next September.
